Actress Gina Carano, recently fired from the cast of “The Mandalorian”, is not following the path of apology preferred by many celebrities who conflict with the cancel culture.
Instead, she is targeting the Disney + and Lucasfilm executives who kicked her two weeks ago, calling them “bullies,” Deadline reported.
“I’ve been through so much and seen so much now, clearly, of the bullying that’s going on, and I’ve seen it before,” Carano told conservative commentator Ben Shapiro of “The Daily Wire” in his first interview since he was ousted, who goes to air on your show on Sunday. “I’m not the only one who has been intimidated by this company, and I know that deeply.”
She added: “I could share a story that would change things in the media, but I can’t because it would sell to a friend. … Everyone is afraid of losing their job ”.
Carano, 38, who played bounty hunter Cara Dune in the first two seasons of “The Mandalorian, was fired from the show for her controversial social media posts.
The “Star Wars” giant did not hide why it was canceled, tearing up “its social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities”, which it called “disgusting and unacceptable”.
The former MMA fighter told Shapiro, with whom she recently made a film contract, that she knew that executives watched her well before her resignation.
“Do you know how boxers sometimes hunt heads and forget to go after the body? I feel like Disney or Lucasfilm or whatever, just a few people from that company … I feel like I’ve been hunting (…) and I can feel it. Just a few weeks ago, Lucasfilm asked an artist they hired to delete my character and put a different character in place, and he proudly announces this on Twitter, deletes my character and puts another character in place. All Cara Dune fans were outraged. They were like, ‘Why didn’t you add the character? Why did you have to remove the character? There’s something wrong? Will Ginny be fired? “
Carano said a Disney employee mistakenly sent her an email from the company about her after the social media reaction to her posts.
“They accidentally sent me an email, which was very enlightening, so I knew. I knew they were paying attention. I know there were some people who tried to defend me, but I know they didn’t win in the end. “
Carano’s most controversial message – and what appears to have been the last straw – came when she shared an image of Nazi Germany and compared it to today’s overheated political climate.
“Jews were beaten on the streets, not by Nazi soldiers, but by their neighbors…. even by children, ”said his post.
Another photo in Carano’s Instagram story showed a person with several masks covering his face and head with the caption: “Meanwhile, in California”.
Carano, according to Deadline, will tell Shapiro that he has no intention of going back on his comments or becoming less outspoken just to please Hollywood executives.
“I was prepared at any moment to be dismissed, because I have seen this happen to a lot of people,” says Carano. “I saw the expression on their faces. I saw the bullying that happens, so when it started, they aimed the guns at you, and you know it’s just a matter of time. I’ve seen it happen with so many people, and I just thought to myself (…) ‘you come after me, I know you are.’ They’re making it pretty obvious through their employees who were coming after me, so I was like, ‘I’m going to swing down and I’m going to stay true to myself.’ “
