Illinois COVID Update Today: IL reports 1,962 new coronavirus cases, 25 deaths

CHICAGO (WLS) – Illinois Department of Public Health officials reported 1,962 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 25 deaths on Saturday.

IDPH has reported a total of 1,220,432 COVID-19 cases, including 21,059 deaths, since the pandemic began.

As of Thursday night, 1,179 patients in Illinois were hospitalized with COVID-19. Of these, 228 patients were in the ICU and 103 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported testing 77,661 specimens for a total of 9,558,920 since the start of the pandemic.

The preliminary positivity of the seven-day state test, from March 13 to 19, is 2.6%.

A total of 5,341,895 doses of the vaccine were delivered to providers in Illinois, including Chicago, with an additional 414,900 doses allocated to federal government partners for long-term care facilities, bringing the total number delivered to Illinois to 5,756,795 . A total of 4,631,122 vaccines were administered in Illinois late on Friday, including 360,941 for long-term care facilities. The seven-day moving average of vaccines administered daily is 98,165 doses. 120,426 doses administered in Illinois were reported on Friday.

Sixty-five percent of Illinois residents aged 65 and older received at least one dose of vaccine, moving closer and closer to the goal of 70% that could lead Illinois to enter the Bridge Phase.

Double lung transplant using lungs from a donor who had previously performed COVID in Northwestern

Northwestern Medicine surgeons performed a double lung transplant on a patient with lungs from a donor who already had COVID-19, the health provider said on Friday.

The transplant recipient is an Illinois man in his 60s. He received lungs from a donor who had mild symptoms. The donor died of unrelated accidental death and had no more COVID at the time.

The patient works in the healthcare field and was diagnosed with COVID-19 in May 2020 and suffered permanent lung damage.

Illinois’ COVID-19 vaccine guidelines do not include Phase 1B marijuana smokers; those who smoke cigarettes included

Illinois residents who smoke marijuana will not be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in advance.

This decision was made despite the fact that marijuana smokers are at an increased risk of respiratory problems.

However, people who smoke cigarettes or have already smoked qualify for the previous stage.

-Cook County: 1 woman 30 years old, 1 man 50, 1 woman 60, 1 man 60, 1 woman 70, 2 men 70, 1 woman 80, 1 man 80, 1 woman 90, 1 man 90
– Douglas County: 1 woman from the 90s

-Franklin County: 1 woman from the 90s
– Madison County: 2 women 70 years old, 1 man 70 years old
– McHenry County: 1 man from the 80s
– McLean County: 1 woman from the 90s
-Moultrie County: 1 woman over 100 years old
-Ogle County: 1 man from the 80s
– Sangamon County: 1 woman from the 90s
-St. County Clair: 1 man 60 years old, 1 woman 80 years old
– Will County: 1 woman 70 years old, 1 man 80 years old
