Illinois CEO arrested during Capitol riots said he was in the ‘wrong place’ at the ‘wrong time’

Bradley Rukstales, who was arrested on charges of illegal entry after participating in the United States Capitol crowd, told an Illinois media outlet that he is “deeply sorry.”

“It was great to see a lot of people together in the morning and listening to the speeches, but, yes, everything became chaos,” said Rukstales in an interview at his home for CBS2 Chicago.

“I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and I regret my participation in this,” said Rukstales.

He did not immediately respond to several emails from NBC News requesting comments on Friday.

The agency described the executive’s home in Iverness, Illinois, as “sophisticated, quiet, suburban.”

In a tweet on Thursday, Cogensia, the Schaumburg, Illinois-based company of which Rukstales is CEO, said he was put on a license due to his admission to participation at events.

A statement by the US Capitol Police confirmed that Rukstales was arrested on charges of illegal entry.

According to a survey of publicly available electoral donations data, Rukstales donated thousands of dollars to Republicans running for Congress and President Donald Trump.
