IDPH launches provisional guidelines for fully vaccinated people, here’s what you need to know

(WREX) – The Illinois Department of Public Health has issued provisional guidelines for those who have been fully vaccinated.

Check out the WSIL News 3 Local Vaccine Information page.

State guidelines follow those of the CDC, which means that an individual is considered fully vaccinated if:

  • 2 weeks after the second dose in a series of 2 doses, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or
  • 2 weeks after a single dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine

The new guidelines also allow people to be fully vaccinated:

  • Visit with other people who are fully vaccinated inside the house, without wearing masks or physical distance.
  • Visits with unvaccinated people from a single household, with low risk of serious COVID-19 disease, in closed environments, without the use of masks or physical distance.
  • Avoid testing after a known exposure if asymptomatic, unless it is necessary for routine screening in a high-density work environment (for example, meat processing plants).

The CDC also produced a web page for the public, accessible from When You Been Fully Vaccinated.

Vaccinated inpatients and health facility residents should remain in quarantine after exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 and outpatients should be treated with the use of appropriate Transmission Based Precautions.

Fully vaccinated people should continue to monitor symptoms for a full 14 days after exposure and should seek medical evaluation if they experience symptoms. All vaccinated persons should continue to:

  • Take precautions in public, such as wearing a tight-fitting mask and moving away physically.
  • Wear masks, practice physical distance and follow other preventive measures when visiting unvaccinated people who are at a higher risk of serious COVID-19 disease or who are
  • have an unvaccinated family member at increased risk for severe COVID-19 disease.
  • Wear masks, keep your physical distance, and practice other preventive measures when visiting unvaccinated people from multiple families.
  • Avoid medium and large personal meetings.
  • Test if you experience symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Follow the guidelines issued by individual employers.
  • Follow CDC travel requirements and recommendations.
