Identified car theft suspect who led Philadelphia police in a wild chase

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – Philadelphia police arrested a suspect who led police in a high-speed chase through the city streets after two car thefts on Friday night.

It happened around 8:40 pm on Broad Street and Erie Avenue.

Police say a City View Pizza delivery driver was making a delivery with his wife and two children, aged 4 and 2, when the suspect, identified as Marcel Jenkins, 33, got into the vehicle and ran off with the family still inside.

At around 10:30 pm, the family was found safely on 21st and Spring Garden streets, but police say the suspect stole another vehicle and led police in a chase across the city.

Helicopter 6 was on top while the suspect tried to deceive the police. At one point during the chase, the suspect led the officers straight through the Philadelphia Police Headquarters parking lot on Race Street.
