ICloud Passwords Chrome Windows extension now available

In addition to iTunes, Apple’s biggest offering on the Microsoft operating system is the iCloud sync client for files, photos and email. Apple is now expanding its presence on Windows with an iCloud Passwords Chrome extension.

Apple quietly published the Chrome Web Store extension on Sunday night:

ICloud passwords allow you to use the same strong Safari passwords that you created on your Apple device, with Chrome on Windows.

After updating iCloud for Windows to version 12.0 – which caused the extension to exist earlier this week, you will see a new “Passwords” section in the list of available services. Tapping “Apply” to proceed to the bottom opens a dialog for downloading the tool within Chrome.

It provides access to passwords you created, automatically generated, or saved to Safari for iOS and macOS when using Chrome. Synchronization is bidirectional with new credentials that you store in the Google browser saved in iCloud Keychain so that it is accessible on iPhone, iPad and Mac devices.

The extension prompts users to “Choose a saved password to use” when signing in. The website and email address are listed below.

This Chrome iCloud password tool joins Apple’s only other extension for older Windows (7 + 8) PCs: iCloud Favorites. Meanwhile, Apple also offers Apple TV + for Xbox. Our colleagues in 9to5Mac this year reported that music apps and podcasts can also reach the Microsoft Store.
