COLOMBIA (WOLO): FFrustrations are increasing as Southern Carolinians express their concerns with ABC Columbia about the state’s unemployment process. ABC Columbia I received many emails and phone calls from some of the more than 100,000 people in the state who were out of work by December.
Ronald Mangum, or better known as ‘Pork Chop’ from History ‘Ice Road Trucker’, is back at the wheel on Wednesday for the first time since December.
He has been fired twice since April. “I have been trying to get my money from the SC job board since January. They didn’t issue me any of my checks, ”said Mangum.
Mangum says he certifies his claim every Sunday. He has pending resolutions on his account, but his requests for help have not been answered.
“They cannot give you answers. You can call and they will tell you that their supervisors will call you back in 72 hours, never a supervisor. Hang up the phone and call back. No record of you calling. “
I contacted the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, which said that there are too many moving parts for a claim. They has picked up the claimant’s identification number and is investigating.
But Mangum says that although he is no longer unemployed, he knows that there are many more Southern Carolinians trying to navigate the same system.
“If you hire me to do a job, then I am responsible for my job and how about all these people trying to do math, or single mothers trying to feed their children. If these people are not going to take responsibility, they may need to see what they are really doing with some of these families in South Carolina. ”
