McCurdy could relate, saying, “My mom put me in this when I was 6 and, at around 10 or 11, I was the main financial backing for my family.”

“At the end of the day I stopped after my mom passed away, because with her death a lot of her ideas for my life died, and this was a difficult and difficult journey for sure,” said McCurdy.

The whole experience led her to say, “I resent my career in many ways”, and left her feeling “so dissatisfied with the roles I played and felt that it was the most tacky and embarrassing thing”.

Faris asked if she would be tempted to return to acting.

McCurdy said he wrote a solo show and ended up acting on it despite being anxious.

“I think that one woman show would be great,” said McCurdy.
