‘I would have preferred a new offensive mechanic over defensive mechanics’ – Nemo gives his impressions of the new Street Fighter 5 V-Shift mechanic

The goal of Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition is best known for being more offensively oriented compared to previous Street Fighter entries. Apparently in response to this, Capcom is adding V-Shift, a new defensive mechanic, to Street Fighter 5 on February 22.

The Liquid | Nemo recently released a video detailing his impressions of the V-Shift’s mechanical future. At one point, he says he would have preferred another offensive mechanic over defensive one.

“We will have to see how it really works, but I would have preferred them to add new offensive mechanics instead of defensive mechanics,” said Nemo.

Nemo speculates that the V-Shift mechanics will be completely invincible against attacks, throws and projectiles from the first frame. He also suspects that this mechanic can make it difficult for casual players to mount an attack as long as this mechanic exists.

In the future, it seems that players will have to be careful when canceling the normals on specials, as this could lead to them being punished by the V-Shift mechanics.
