I love Google’s sincere reviews of vaccination sites

The first person I knew personally who got the COVID-19 vaccine was my grandmother, and the news that an injection was officially in her arm was the best thing I have heard since the start of the pandemic. Since then, more and more of my family and friends (and their families) have been vaccinated, and the shock of happiness is still so stimulating.

I am thrilled to hear about people I don’t know being vaccinated as well. I happen to be a big softie when it comes to people protecting themselves from a deadly disease! Social media is full of post-injection selfies that will make me cry a little during the workday. And this week, my wonderful coworker Kait Sanchez showed me another way to enjoy the joy of the newly vaccinated: Google’s assessments of the vaccination sites for COVID-19.

I am usually skeptical when reading any criticism online, since it is highly subjective and usually only by people whose experiences have been extremely good or extremely bad. But I threw it out the window by reading the latest reviews from the Javits Center in New York City, which I now fully believe is a happy place for people with vaccine appointments. It is “so impressive”, wrote a person now immunized. Someone who took the mother to a consultation wrote that “the service we received was beautiful”.

People in Arizona are looking forward to getting their photos at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. I am very happy for Ken, who said that he is “kind of wonderful” after receiving his first dose of the vaccine.

Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts is usually home to the New England Patriots and the New England Revolution, but nowadays it is also home to a mass vaccination site with a five-star review for the state. Sandi was vaccinated there and said it was a great experience, writing: “You come and go in 30 minutes, but of course you must take pictures!” – and attaching those photos.

I’m not sure what impulse prompted people to leave comments about the vaccination sites for COVID-19, but I’m grateful for whatever it is. They made my day.
