Actress Kate Hudson is an Oscar-nominated actress, a businesswoman and mother of three children who have different parents – something the star revealed in a new interview on Sunday TODAY.
“I have several parents, I have children everywhere”, the Almost famous star told Willie Geist in the interview.
Hudson’s children are also of a wide range of ages. There is Ryder, 17, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Robinson; Bingham, 9, whose father is ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy; and Rani Rose, 2, whose father is Hudson’s boyfriend, Danny Fujikawa.
“The only expectations that I really have and that are very high in my life are with my children and the things of the family,” she added.
As for their own “multiple parents”, Hudson and brother Oliver Hudson have stayed away from their biological father, actor and musician Bill Hudson for most of their lives and were raised by their mother Goldie Hawn and her partner, Kurt Russell.
“It’s a 41-year-old problem,” said Hudson, 41, of this dynamic. “I have a great family. I have a beautiful mother. I have a stepfather who intervened and played a very important role, sharing what it is like to have a trusted father figure in our life. But that doesn’t take away the fact that we didn’t know our father . ”
Hudson and his brother present a podcast, Feast of Brothers, which is often reflected in complicated family issues. “I think the distance is, unfortunately, quite common and I think it’s important for people to talk about it,” shared the co-founder of Fabletics.
Hudson recently received a lot of press for mentioning on the podcast that she and Oliver have other siblings they are not close to. “We are sitting here as if we have the best family, as if we are great. And yet, we never recognize the fact that we have four other brothers, ”she said. “So, I’ve been thinking about the Hudsons. To think that it is important to get in touch with all our brothers and perhaps connect with them a little. “
Bill Hudson has three other children – Emily, Lalania and Zachary – from other relationships. Hudson’s other siblings are Russell’s son, Boston, from his first marriage, and actor Wyatt Russell, Hawn’s only biological son with Russell.
As for how Hudson and his three children are doing during the COVID-19 pandemic, the star of the next film Music shares, “I want to be, like, ‘Yes, it’s so good and … we’re finding out’, but the reality is that there are days that are great and there are days that I have to remember to be grateful for. “
She adds: “I never thought of a million years that I would spend a year in one place. And when you have so many kids, sometimes you have those moments when you’re hiding in the bathroom and you say, ‘Please, please, get me out of here!’
“I just remember that there are a lot of people out there who have lost their loved ones, and we just have to stay here for a while.”
