‘I counted calories and made Beachbody lose over 100 pounds’

My name is Shianne Smith (@shiannesmithfit). I’m 26 years old and I’m from Kansas City, Missouri. I used Beachbody’s workouts, the eating plan focused on portion control and calorie counting to undo the pregnancy weight gain.


I have always struggled with parcel control, as well as being impatient with my attempts to lose weight. I wouldn’t see the results fast enough and give up because I would feel like I’m worthless. For a long time, I really believed that I was born to be overweight.

I reached my heaviest weight while I was pregnant with my daughter. At 23, he weighed 110 kilos. I had put on 30 kilos when I gave birth. I was almost diabetic and also had high blood pressure and a very high resting heart rate.

My biggest motivation for losing weight and staying healthy was my daughter.

Now that I was a mother, I knew I needed to be healthier. My daughter deserved a happy and healthy mom. She deserved a good role model, especially when it came to body image, and I was unhappy physically and emotionally. Then, on August 15, 2018, I decided it was enough. I set myself a three-month goal to lose some weight, and it ended up leading to a complete lifestyle change.

I started to monitor my calories religiously.

Keeping track of calories, what works best for me and I do my best to stay with a calorie deficit. (However, I remember showing grace when I am not!). As I knew I had trouble overeating and controlling my portion, I bought a portion control meal plan through Beachbody and basically retreated to learn healthier eating habits in October 2018.

I am definitely a creature of habit, so I eat many of the same foods quite regularly. I don’t usually eat breakfast because I try to work out in the morning and I don’t like to work out with food in my belly (although I like it sometimes!).

Here’s what I eat a day.

  • Breakfast: Half a banana and two fried eggs on an avocado toast with Louisiana hot sauce.
  • Lunch: A package of Mission Carb Balance spinach and herb tortilla with a tablespoon of mayonnaise, turkey, cheese and lettuce, with straws of vegetables, fruits and yogurt.
  • Dinner: Chicken fajitas or bowls of fajita are my favorites.
  • Snacks: Protein bars, fruit or sliced ​​cucumbers with lemon juice and seasoning powdered tajin pepper.
  • Dessert: I don’t normally eat dessert, but Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is my favorite, and I love chocolate.

    To exercise, I started walking as much as I could.

    I started out trying to walk a total of five miles throughout the day. And I didn’t * actually * work out until October 2018, when I bought the Beachbody.

    I still do Beachbody workouts, so my workouts throughout the week vary with any workout program I’m currently doing. I train at least five to six days a week. My favorite activity is lifting weights. Weightlifting totally changed my body composition in a way I never expected, and I love how strong I am becoming.

    These three changes made the biggest difference in my weight loss results.

    1. I started to monitor my calories. When I monitor my calories and stay within my calorie deficit, I become more aware of my food choices and can avoid more stupid snacks.
    2. I stopped focusing only on the scale. The scale will not always be your friend when you want it. In the past, I did not know what a “victory off the scale” was, so when the number on the scale increased, it discouraged and gave up. This time, I trusted the process and took pictures of the progress. I paid attention to how my clothes fit and how I feel in general.
    3. I recited positive statements. As silly as it may seem, saying kind and loving things to myself really boosted my body image, which helped my mental state and kept me under pressure in the difficult days. I didn’t always believe what I was saying initially, but I said enough until the point where I started.

        I lost more than 45 kilos.

        I want other women to know that you are dignified, beautiful and incredible. It is normal to love your body and yourself while you want to change. We are not defined by the size of the pants we wear or how much space we may or may not occupy. Healthy looks different in every body, so love yourself and be kind.
