Bergman is best known for his role in Young people and the restless, but playing Jack on the show is not his first television role during the day. The actor previously played Dr. Cliff Warner in All my children starting in 1989. He was on the show for about 10 years before the show split from him. In a 2019 interview with Michael Fairman TV, Bergman reflected on playing Jack for over 30 years on The young and the restless. He also talked about his relationship with other cast members who took on characters that were played by other people before.
“I am their best friend,” he said. “I try to find anyone who is in this situation and have a conversation with him; for example: Mark Grossman [Adam] another day. I said, “Mark, you’ve been here for a long time. You have now established Adam. You don’t have to look back and see what other people have done with this character. Now we have to tell Mark Grossman’s version of Adam ”, and he got that advice because yes, it is a difficult thing to do. I was trying to say, ‘Hey, I’m going to try this,’ and they would interrupt and say, ‘No, no,’ and they were right! They were helping to guide me to do this mine, but we do it in baby steps. I am incredibly grateful. This was a moment of gratitude and it surprised me. “
