Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay was forced to deny that he was one of the protesters on the United States Capitol on Wednesday after he started to be popular on social media.
Twitter users noticed the resemblance of one of the protester’s Viking horns to Kay’s flamboyant helmet, which he used to wear during performances.
“Good morning Washington, I’m loving the helmet, but I’m not sure if this is my audience”, the english singer tweeted On thursday. “Be safe, everyone, J xxx.”
The heavily painted man was identified as Jake Angeli, 32, a QAnon supporter and a regular at far-right rallies in Arizona.
Kay, 51, also posted a video in which she says in an exaggerated American accent: “Good morning, world! Some of you may be thinking that you saw me in Washington last night, but unfortunately I didn’t have all those freaks.
He then switched to his native British accent and wished everyone a happy new year and thanks for the birthday messages.
Kay noted that the UK is once again under lockdown due to COVID-19 and added: “The way we treat our animals, raising them, caging them, everything else, we will continue to receive it again and again. Hopefully, we will try to learn our lesson. ”
The English funk and acid jazz band was formed in 1992 and scored MTV’s Video of the Year with the song “Virtual Insanity”.
