Huntley ready to recover from injuries in 2021

Alex Huntley should do more during his first season with the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Instead of securing a spot in the defensive tackle rotation, the former four-star recruit from Columbia’s Hammond School had more ankle injuries than tackles in 2020. On Tuesday, Huntley told reporters he is “feeling great” and that his health has returned to 100 percent.

Ankle injury # 1 came just before the season, while he was tightening up some extra conditioning.

“That’s what got me in the way, it took me through goodbye week,” said Huntley. “Bye week came and I was getting better, back from the injury and Texas A&M week after that, I played that game a little bit, after Texas A&M week, just doing a little 6 against 4 (in practice) and it was curled, the other ankle.

“I got hurt there, too, and that took me through the week of the last game.”
