Hundreds of nursing homes partner with Medline to improve quality and workforce management

NORTHFIELD, Ill., December 29, 2020 / PRNewswire / – Medline announced that it is on track to sign around 800 contracts with clients for its Post-Acute Solutions program, which aims to offer technology-based workforce and quality management solutions to long-term care providers term. This represents a 30% increase in total program subscriptions compared to 2019.

Medline currently partners with OnShift solution providers, Real Time Medical Systems, HealthStream online learning and abaqis by HealthStream, to provide technology-based programs that help recruit and retain employees, improve clinical performance, address potential research deficiencies and increase the price per day of reimbursement for residents. In 2020, more than 500 national and regional nursing homes worked with Medline to implement programs at its facilities, including Nexion Health, which signed a HealthStream contract for 43 facilities. In addition, Focused Post Agute Care Partners in Texas, Floridabased on Gulf Coast Health Care and South Carolinabased on South Atlantic Health Care, each signed contracts to implement Real Time in more than 60 nursing homes in their organizations.

“2020 was one of the most challenging years for health and we know that everyone at all levels is exhausted. We are also hearing from customers about how the pandemic has magnified some of the traditional challenges they face, especially around team involvement,” he said. Shawn Scott, vice president of strategic business development for Medline’s Post-Acute Care division. “This shift in a greater desire for real-time data tools demonstrates how leaders are becoming smarter than ever to react, adapt and lead, and we are grateful to act as extensions of their team to make a significant impact. ”

Interactive data to prepare for research and generate reimbursement
In 2020, more than half of customer contracts were responsible for programs that provide for research deficiencies and increase reimbursement. Real Time launched an interactive infection control and antibiotic surveillance solution this year that simplifies reporting requirements and identifies early episodes of infections and monitors the use of antibiotics using live EHR data. In addition, while the CMS has temporarily paused annual surveys, there is a specific survey by COVID. To assist providers in adapting to the new regulation, abaqis by HealthStream introduced a free COVID self-assessment survey, an exact replica of the nursing home CMS survey to help facilities predict potential deficiencies.

Interactive data to help recruit and engage employees
Long-term care providers have long struggled with turnover, a challenge that can significantly affect an organization’s financial results. On average, the turnover cost is about $ 3,500 per employee. It has never been more urgent for organizations to think differently to retain employees. Because of this critical problem, more than 100 Medline customers signed contracts in 2020 with OnShift, a leader in human capital management software for post-acute and elderly care. The company’s next generation platform fundamentally transforms the relationship between healthcare organizations and their employees. Its innovative approach to recruiting, hiring, workforce management and engagement promotes a culture where people want to work. OnShift recently introduced OnShift Time, a biometric face recognition technology that eliminates the need for expensive time clocks and helps keep employees safe from the COVID-19.

Anxious for education
Contract signatures also highlighted the continued appetite for education. Despite the departure from traditional face-to-face learning, a significant percentage of the year’s agreements focused on HealthStream’s complete online learning system. The platform offers personalized education and simplifies the tracking of state and federal training requirements. Together, Medline and HealthStream offered 40 specific COVID-19 courses for post-acute care.
