Hundreds of Israelis are infected with Covid-19 after receiving the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine – reports – RT World News

With the vaccine not providing immediate immunity to the coronavirus, more than two hundred Israeli citizens were diagnosed with the disease days after receiving the vaccines from Pfizer / BioNTech, local media reported.

The number of people who took Covid-19 despite being vaccinated was about 240 people, according to data from Canal 13 News.

The Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine, which Israeli health officials trust, does not contain the coronavirus and cannot infect the recipient. But it takes time for the drug’s genetic code to train the immune system to recognize and attack the disease.

The course of the vaccine manufactured in the United States requires two injections. According to the studies, immunity to Covid-19 increases only eight to ten days after the first injection and eventually reaches 50 percent.

The second jab is administered 21 days after the first, while the declared 95 percent immunity is achieved just one week after that. And, of course, there is still a five percent chance of being infected, even if the vaccine is at its maximum potential.

The Israeli media that reported the numbers urged the public to remain vigilant and strictly follow all Covid-19 precautions during the month after the first injection of the vaccine was administered.

The Jewish state is currently waging a massive vaccination campaign, which has seen more than a million people or almost 12 percent of the population receiving the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine. This is the largest per capita range in the world, according to the University of Oxford. The first phase of the program aims to immunize doctors and the elderly before expanding into other categories.

About one in a thousand people reported mild side effects after the injection, including weakness, dizziness and fever, as well as pain, swelling and redness where the injection was given. Only a few dozen of them required medical attention, said the Ministry of Health.

Since vaccinations began on December 20, at least four people in Israel have died shortly after receiving the vaccine, public broadcaster Kan said. However, the Ministry of Health said three deaths were unrelated to the vaccine, with the fourth case of an 88-year-old man with pre-existing illnesses being investigated.
