After it aired, Hugh shared a candid video on Instagram in which he asked his followers to watch the chat, which he believed to be “an incredible example of never worrying alone” after watching it with his wife Deborra -Lee Furness.
“I recommend Oprah’s interview with Meghan and Harry that Deb and I and millions of people around the world watched last night in amazement,” he said.
“Because there we were witnessing an incredibly important woman and her husband speaking so openly, courageously, honestly, with such dignity about the really hardest time in their lives and their plea for help.”
The 52-year-old Australian actor explained that he is on the board of Gotcha4Life, which he described as “an organization in Australia that is dealing with the issue of suicide as well as mental fitness”.
He said that watching Meghan and Harry’s interview reinforced the importance of seeking help and “never worrying alone”.
“Last night I just thought, everyone needs to see this because it is an incredible example of never worrying about yourself. Seek help, and if you are not getting help where you are looking, keep looking, ”he said.
“Go elsewhere because there is always help. So never worry yourself and I just want to say thanks Meghan, thanks Harry for your courage.
During an interview called ‘Oprah With Meghan and Harry’, which aired on the American CBS network and on Australia’s Channel 10, Meghan told Oprah that she thought about suicide during her time as a real worker.
“I just didn’t see a solution,” she admitted.
“Look, I was really ashamed to have to say that at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry mainly, because I know how many losses he suffered, but I knew that if I didn’t say that I would do it … and I just not – I just didn’t want to be alive anymore. And that was a very clear, real and scary constant thought. ”
The duchess later said that she and her husband had repeatedly asked the institution for help, both for their mental health and for their safety, and this was denied.
The couple discussed many aspects of their time in the UK, of which some of the biggest revelations included Meghan describing how an undisclosed person within the royal family expressed “concerns” about how dark the skin of Archie, Harry’s firstborn son , it would have been when she was born and that Kate Middleton made her cry.
Other celebrities supported Meghan and Harry, including Serena Williams, Bernice King and Gabrielle Union.
