Hugh Grant will play the villain on Paramount and eOne’s Untitled ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Pic – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Hugh Grant and Sophia Lillis will join the Paramount cast and the untitled film adaptation of eOne Dungeons and Dragons, Hasbro’s extremely popular game franchise from Wizards of the Coast. The film also stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith and Bridgerton star Rege-Jean Page. Paramount and eOne are jointly producing and financing the pic, with the distribution of eOne in the UK and Canada and Paramount in the rest of the world.

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley will direct and write the script. Jeremy Latcham is producing under his contract with Hasbro’s entertainment arm eOne. Brian Goldner of Hasbro is also producing.

The plot details behind this latest version of the IP are being kept under wraps. Dungeons and Dragons is a leading fantasy entertainment franchise, fueled by the imagination of storytellers around the world. More than 40 million fans have interacted or played D&D since its first publication, 46 years ago, including video games and live entertainment on Twitch and YouTube.

Grant is coming out of one of the biggest years of his career after his critically acclaimed work on the HBO limited series The Undo, which recently earned him Golden Globe and SAG nominations. Before that, on the TV side, he also received great reviews and an Emmy nomination for A Very English Scandal. On the film side, he has been busy with the participation of director Guy Ritchie The gentleman and the next photo of the crime Five eyes, which is currently being filmed.
