Hugh Bonneville revealed that he got a vaccine against Covid by sharing photos of himself getting the vaccine on Instagram.

Downton Abbey star, 57, took to social media on Friday to post photos of himself at Memorial Hall, Midhurst, West Sussex, where he volunteers with the Midhurst Pharmacy team after joining in March 2020.

Sharing the news with his 126,000 fans, Hugh said he received the AstraZeneca jab.

Hugh wrote: ‘The Riverbank Medical Center in Midhurst started vaccinating last week. Today, Midhurst Pharmacy, led by Raj Rohilla, joined the rollout in northwest Sussex.

He then shared a group image with others who worked at the center, with everyone wearing masks, and added: ‘With former nurse Jo Wiltshire (left), Raj and retired GPs Andrew Douglas and Madelaine Litchfield (who gave me my punch AstraZeneca).

Finishing his post, Hugh shared a cheerful photo of himself in a bright yellow vest and hat while doing two thumbs up.

He wrote: ‘It is a pleasure to be part of the support team as a volunteer marshal. I can use hi viz and everything. ‘

Several other famous faces praised his actions, with announcer Ben Fogle commenting: ‘Very well. I love this Hugh. ‘

TV presenter Eamonn Holmes also responded to the news by writing: ‘Be well, Hugh.’

Hugh joins other celebrities in getting the vaccine, including Sir David Attenborough, 94, Sir Ian McKellen, 81, and the Great British Bake Off judge, Prue Leith, 80.

Michael Eavis, 85, Lionel Blair, 92, and Marty Wilde, 81, are among the other stars who have announced that they have received the coronavirus injection.

Sir Tom Jones also took his shot, telling Jools Holland’s annual Hootenanny program: ‘That’s a good thing about being 80, you’re first in line for the jab.’

After receiving the vaccine at the Arts Research Center at Queen Mary University Hospital in December, Sir Ian McKellen said: ‘It is a very special day, I feel euphoric!’

He went on: ‘Anyone who has lived as long as I am alive because they have received previous vaccines.

‘The absorption among the older generation will be 100 percent – it should be – because you are having this not only for yourself, but for the people you are close to – you are doing your part for society.’
