Huge Fallout: The Frontier mod launches today

Fallout: The Frontier is a huge expansion-sized mod for Fallout: New Vegas that has been in the works for years. It adds a brand new map zone and storyline to New Vegas, set in the snowy Portland desert, where three new factions are at war. The big project is being launched today and it sure looks like people are excited to play it.

“The Frontier is an open world, similar in size to the DC desert, featuring a Portland Oregon completely covered in snow, with landmarks and real-life locations,” say the creators. They say the modified expansion takes place in the same period as Fallout: New Vegas, so you will be taking your familiar messenger north to investigate a new conflict.

In the Oregon desert, you’ll find a group of exiled NCR troops battling a faction from the Northern Legion and some remaining refugees from the Brotherhood of Steel. You can watch the new launch trailer above, which has the three faction leaders explaining why they are fighting in the snow.

You can find additional details on The Frontier’s website and it sounds pretty impressive. The creators say that there are three main mission lines and a good chunk of side missions as well. It adds battles against bosses, new enemies, new creatures and additional energy weapons as well. In addition, the whole thing includes dubbing, which is always a realization for a big modding project.

You can download Fallout: The Frontier on Nexus Mods or on Steam. However, be patient with the Nexus link. Nexus alerted players through their Discord server that “the regular Friday night traffic and the huge interest in Fallout: The Frontier combined are really hammering our servers”.

Enjoy the north coast, messengers. Just don’t hurry at once.
