A few months ago, Honor officially separated from its Huawei controller, although the DNA that united the two can still be seen today. Look no further than the new Huawei Band 6, a fitness tracker that is essentially an Honor Band 6 with the new brand.
Honor’s device was the recipient of one of the Android Authority CES 2021 Top Picks Award, and for good reason. The large screen format and two-week battery life are outstanding features that are not very common in the low-cost fitness tracker space.
The Huawei Band 6 offers the same large 1.47-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, making it much more spacious than a traditional fitness tracker. Despite the larger size, it weighs only 18g. Notably, the Huawei Band 6 also shares similarities with the Huawei Watch Fit. However, Band 6 is slightly smaller and has better battery life.
A large case allows room for a large battery. The Huawei Band 6 can last up to 14 days on a single charge with “average” use or 10 days with heavy use.
The fitness tracker comes with an optical heart rate sensor, as well as SpO2 monitoring throughout the day. Monitoring blood oxygen throughout the day is usually something we see on state-of-the-art health devices, so it’s great to see Huawei include it in Band 6. It will also warn if your blood oxygen levels drop a lot during the day.
It can also monitor your sleep and report your heart rate during sleep, sleep stages and respiratory rate. Menstrual cycle monitoring is also here, allowing women to monitor their periods, manage their pregnancy plans and more.
Finally, the band supports 96 training modes in total. Six modes can be tracked automatically: indoor / outdoor running, indoor / outdoor walking, elliptical and rowing machine. Huawei says it can also track 11 “professional” modes, including running, cycling and … jumping rope. We asked Huawei for more details to see exactly what that means.

Don’t expect too many features from the smartwatch, however. The Huawei Band 6 will be able to offer basic notification mirroring, as well as a remote camera shutter and the ability to control your phone’s music, but third-party applications are not supported.
The Huawei Band 6 will be available in Graphite Black, Amber Sunrise, Sakura Pink and Forest Green soon, but that’s all we know for now. There is no information on pricing or availability yet, but the Honor Band 6 will be available soon for around $ 35. It is possible that Huawei’s wearable will be launched for the same price.
