Howard Co. warns against ineligible people trying to get the coronavirus vaccine

At a time when the focus is on providing the coronavirus vaccine to early respondents and healthcare professionals, Howard County health officials say that some Maryland residents who are not yet eligible are trying to get it anyway. .

Some Maryland residents who are not eligible for the coronavirus vaccine are trying to get it anyway, according to Howard County health officials.

“The health department is currently focused on providing vaccines for first responders and healthcare providers with direct patient care responsibilities in private clinics.” county health officials said on Twitter.

But some of the people in the eligible category who received private links to register for a vaccination started to share their links with relatives, friends and colleagues who tried to make appointments on their own.

“These unauthorized appointments are critical to a frontline rescuer or healthcare professional,” said Howard County health officials.

Authorities said people who received a registration link from a friend or colleague, instead of receiving notification from the Howard County Health Department, should not register because it would be a waste of time.

“Your appointment will not be honored,” warned the health department, saying that unauthorized appointments are delaying the general effort to distribute the vaccine.

According to the latest figures from the Maryland Department of Health, about 42,000 people have received the vaccine across the state so far. That is less than 1% of the state’s population.
