It turns out that Matthew and Diana actually landed in the year 1590, but what awaits them in the past is more than they expected.
Based on All souls Deborah Harkness Trilogy, A witch discovery tells the story of the American witch and historian Diana Bishop after she traveled to Oxford to study alchemy and science. While researching the Bodleian Library, she discovers a mysterious manuscript that not only unlocks her dormant powers, but draws her attention from the vampire Matthew of Clairmont. The two fall in love, despite a taboo surrounding their romance, and find themselves enemies of witches and vampires committed to maintaining the status quo.
To discover the missing pages in the mysterious manuscript – called Ashmole 782 – and to help Diana fulfill her destiny as a witch, lovers travel back in time to 1590. There they are immersed in the drama of Matthew’s dark past as a member of the School of Night, a historical circle of intellectuals, including Kit Marlowe (Tom Hughes), Mary Sidney (Amanda Hale) and the alter ego of Matthew, the real-life poet Matthew Roydon.
