If you have difficulties with irregular cell service in your office or apartment, there is a simple solution called “Wi-Fi calling”.
Wi-Fi calling is exactly what it sounds like: making calls and sending messages via the Internet connection, instead of cell service. But first, you will need to enable the feature on your iPhone or Android device.
While all major carriers, including AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile offer Wi-Fi calls, the cost to you depends on your plan. Wi-Fi calling is not a sneaky method to save money or minutes: the same monthly fees and limits apply.
After activating the Wi-Fi call, you don’t have to do anything special to activate it. It’s automatic.
You can set up Wi-Fi calls in just a few easy steps.

6 A pop-up page will appear notifying you of the 911 call – tap “Continue”. Update your emergency address, which lets emergency services know where your home is if you make a call to 911. If cell service is available, your phone will ignore the Wi-Fi signal for your own security.
7 You’ll know it’s working if there’s a Wi-Fi signal next to your carrier’s name at the top of the screen.
How to enable Wi-Fi calling for Android
Your phone will ignore a weak cell signal for a Wi-Fi signal, but you can set your preference between any of them. Since Android phones are variable, no set of steps will apply to all phones. You can always search for “Wi-Fi calling” in the search bar to adjust the settings.
1 Open the Settings app on your device.
two Touch “Networks and Internet” or “Connections”, depending on your Android device.
In this version of Android, go to “Connections” in Settings.
