How to remove Adobe Flash Player from your Windows or Mac computer

The end of 2020 was seen as positive for many, but it was bittersweet in at least one way: Adobe finally officially closed Flash Player.

This was not surprising, as Adobe had announced that Flash would die with three years’ notice. This marks the end of a long era, which at its height gave bored teenagers ways to keep themselves entertained in the high school computer lab. Before you could easily get high quality games for free on your phone, you had to settle for Flash nonsense that infringes copyrights. It was great.

Either way, Flash is gone forever and Adobe wants people to rid their computers of any remnants of Flash Player because it is no longer receiving security updates. “Useless” and “potentially dangerous in the future” are a bad combination. Fortunately, Adobe has official instructions on how to uninstall Flash Player on Windows and Mac.

Fortunately, the process looks quite simplified and simple. Adobe has created a Flash Player uninstaller program that you can find on either of these two instructions pages. Obviously, be sure to download the right file for your operating system first. After doing that, open the download, click on the Flash Player Uninstaller icon and let it do its magic.

On the Mac, that was literally a touch of a button for me. I told the program to remove the Adobe Flash Player and it did just that. You will likely have to close open browser windows, so make sure you don’t miss any necessary tabs. Once this is done, the uninstaller application will inform you by taking you to a web page with a simple message from Adobe:

The Flash finally died. Here's how to remove it from your computer.

Flash took a run and it’s sad to see him go. Running a program to remove it from your computer won’t be a real goodbye, but, hey, it’s the great memories that count the most.
