How to manufacture weapons in Fortnite

Fortnite Season 6 was “Primal” and if you missed the trailer showing some of the new additions, a round on the new map should be quite revealing. From prehistoric-looking huts to new teeth coated with teeth and bones, Fortnite Season 6 almost resembles ARK Survival Evolved, if it weren’t for all the dancing TikToks and superheroes running around. Oh yes – and now there is weapons manufacturing.

How to create in Fortnite is sure to be a big topic of discussion this season as it is a complex new system that all players are trying to learn on the spot. We’ve built this cheat sheet so you can better understand the new elements, such as mechanical parts, animal parts, improvised, classic and primary weapons, and an overview of how to manufacture in Fortnite. Here is everything you need to know.

How to make crafts in Fortnite

Although the list of crafable items is long, none of that matters if you don’t know what you’re dealing with. First, you will want to familiarize yourself with the new handicrafts: mechanical parts and animal parts.

Mechanical parts

Mechanical parts come from vehicles like cars, trucks, RVs and basically anything with an engine. Defeat them with your harvesting tool or blow them up to find mechanical parts left behind.

Animal Parts

Animal parts are discarded by defeated wild animals. This season features passive and aggressive animals like chickens and frogs in the first case and wild boars and wolves in the last case. When defeated, they will leave Bones and Meat behind.

Frogs can also leave Stink Sacs behind, while larger animals will leave more bones behind than small ones.

Bones and mechanical parts do not take up space in your usual five stock slots, although meat does – four pieces of meat per slot and 15 HP per piece of meat consumed. Bones and mechanical parts, however, are placed in a new Crafting menu that you will find when you open your complete inventory. Each workable item will take animal parts or mechanical parts, but as of now, at least, nothing takes both.

Primary weapons vs. classic weapons

Continuing from above, the reason no weapon recipe needs Mechanical and Animal parts together is because they represent opposing weapon styles in Season 6. Primary weapons, coated with teeth and tape, have a worse impact at the expense of accuracy, while classic weapons provide players with the familiar firepower they are used to, but can leave them without strength in a fight with enemies equipped with Primal.

There is a risk-reward system at stake that requires each player to decide for themselves what they prefer or, sometimes, what they can create. If you discover an improvised weapon, consider it a blank slate. While it can be a useful weapon as it is, combining it with the right crafting supplies can turn it into a classic or primary weapon at any time.

We have already seen how to make the Hunter’s Cape. In the next section, we’ll recap this and see other recipes that players can use to create new weapons.

Fortnite craft recipes

We are likely to discover more craft recipes in Fortnite in the hours of gameplay ahead of us, but for now, here are the recipes we’ve found so far.

To create an item, go to the Crafting menu and go to the basic item you want to change, such as turning a piece of meat into a hunter’s cap or an improvised shotgun into a primary shotgun. If you have enough crafting parts in addition to the weapon, you can make the desired weapon.

  • Mechanical Pistol: 1 gun, 4 mechanical parts
  • Mechanical Explosive Bow: 1 Mechanical Bow, 6 Grenades
  • Shockwave mechanical weapons: 1 mechanical arc, 2 shock wave grenades

  • Primal Weapon: 1 weapon, 4 bones
  • Primordial Flame Arch: 1 Primordial Arch, 1 Firefly Jug or 1 Gas Can
  • Primordial Smelly Arch: 1 Primordial Bow, 3 Smelly Fish or 1 Smelly Bag
  • Hunter’s Cloak: 1 meat, 2 bones

It should be noted that you can also find Primary and Classic craft items and weapons in chests, but since chests are random, the most surefire way to craft a particular item is to hunt animals or destroy specific vehicles for your intended item .
