Staples must have seen all the attention Krispy Kreme is getting paid for handing out free donuts for people vaccinated all year round – with proof through a valid vaccination card – because now they are offering to laminate these cards for all of us for free. In the latest edition of Good things companies are doing for us now, Staples announced yesterday that it will laminate, at no cost, any vaccine card completed from now until May 1 and, this morning, Office Depot did the same, promising free lamination until July 25th.

The importance of paper cards is still unclear in the coming months, but chances are good that you will need yours as proof of vaccination at some point, if you travel or when returning to work or school. Since there is no comprehensive “digital vaccination passport” system in the United States, most of us will be counting on that piece of paper as our only proof that we have been vaccinated.

In order to protect his integrity for as long as necessary, Staples says Business Insider that will laminate any vaccination card after the cardholder has received two doses (for vaccines that require two, ie) by 1 May. That date is an extension of the initial April 3 announcement. The offer is valid at stores located in the country; the coupon code is “81450”, according to CBS Boston. Office Depot’s offer is practically the same, but extends to the end of July; the coupon code is 52516714 and the offer can be printed here.

Remember that while laminating the card can help prevent it from being damaged, it does not prevent you from losing it. It is still a good idea to take a clear picture of the card for your record, in case it disappears.
