How to get rid of WhatsApp forever

If you use WhatsApp, Facebook’s incredibly popular messaging app, chances are you’ve found the news about your constantly changing privacy policy. Although the service seems to change continuously from more to less secure and vice versa, you may feel that it is time to pack your data and find a new platform to chat with friends.

If you decide to remove yourself from WhatsApp, do the following:

To export your messages, touch the chat you want to save. Touch the chat name at the top and scroll down to “Export chat” and choose whether or not to include the chat media with it.

Then, request your account details in “Settings” in the lower right corner. Then choose “Account” and “Request account information”. It will take about three days to receive your WhatsApp data report, but they will notify you when you are ready.

Finally, to delete your account, go to “Settings”, then “Account” and “Delete my account”. This will erase your message history, remove you from all groups, and delete your backup. Now you are free and free from WhatsApp, and just need to convince your friends and family to migrate to a different app.
