Before deleting your account, you want to export your chats. Fortunately, this is simple. Just touch the name of the topic you want to save, located at the top, and scroll down until Export chat. You can also choose whether to save all photos and videos included in the topic.

Now it’s time to request all your account details. Touch Definitions in the bottom right corner of the app. So touch Account and Request account information. WhatsApp says it takes about three days to receive your report, but the company notifies you when it’s ready.

Take a deep breath and get ready to delete your account before you delete the application from your phone. Under Definitions and Account, Touch Delete my account. Deleting your account will delete your messages, remove you from group chats, and delete your backup. It’s really very simple.

As you can see, leaving WhatsApp is really easy. The hard part will be convincing your friends, family and colleagues to leave the Facebook messaging app as well. Good luck!
