Guilty Gear Strive is hosting an open beta now that went live for all players yesterday, although it is in fact longer than it was for players who pre-ordered the game or those who had early access by ArcSystemWorks developers.

But before the beta was made available to anyone to download on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 yesterday, the beta client began to suffer from major server problems.

ArcSys confirmed that it was aware of the problem, which GGST impossible to play, since no one was able to connect to the beta, and worked all day to fix it. At around 9:15 pm CT on February 18, the beta was live and playable again, but dropped again shortly thereafter.

If you saw any variation of the “Failed to download R-Code” pop-up when trying to access the beta, it just means that you are not connecting to the server.

This problem has appeared several times since the beta began, even before server outages started. It is probably also not caused by Internet problems on your side. Instead, it is something on the server side of ArcSys preventing you from connecting.

From now on, the only real solution to this error is to keep trying to connect to the game. Some players have been successful in entering once, they try again a few times, but it is strictly on a case by case basis.

If you continually fail to connect, it is likely that the GGST the servers are experiencing a major disruption that is affecting the entire beta client, making it totally unplayable. You can see if ArcSys has noticed a major problem in the company’s official Twitter or The Official Guilty Gear page.
