How to completely remove Adobe Flash from your Mac

After a three-year warning, the end of Adobe Flash officially happened. And with that, Adobe strongly recommends that users uninstall it from their computers immediately. Read on to learn how to completely remove Adobe Flash from your Mac.

Adobe has officially withdrawn support for Flash starting today, January 1, 2021. And in just under two weeks, Adobe will block all Flash content from working in the Flash Player.

Adobe strongly recommends that all users immediately uninstall Flash Player to help protect their systems. Some users may continue to see reminders from Adobe to uninstall Flash Player from their systems.

  • If you care about privacy, go to System Preferences> Flash Player (found at the bottom) first
  • In the upper right corner, click the Advanced tab
  • Choose Deauthorize this computer …

Remove Adobe Flash entirely

  • Open a Finder window and select Applications, now open Utilities (or look for the Adobe Flash Player Install Manager application)
  • Open Adobe Flash Player Install Manager> click Uninstall
  • You will receive a confirmation when it is successfully removed
  • You can use a third-party application like Clean My Mac or Sensei to search and remove any strange Flash files, but for me the official Adobe Flash uninstaller has removed everything
