- Evolve 3 Fire Pokémon – Torchic Encounter

Field research tasks and everything you need to know about the Lunar New Year event in Pokémon Go
During the Lunar New Year event in Pokémon Go, you will be able to collect a series of special field research tasks by spinning PokéStops. While these tasks can only be collected during the event, they can be completed as soon as the event is over.
Below you can find the field research tasks for the Lunar New Year event:
- Send 3 gifts to friends reward – Meowth encounter
- Send 10 gifts to friends reward – meeting Alolan Meowth or Galarian Meowth
- Catch 6 Water Pokémon reward – Miltank encounter
- Catch 12 Pokémon reward – Meditite encounter

The Lunar event also sees Mega Gyarados being added to the Mega Evolutions route, so if you are collecting all Mega Pokémon, remember to add them to your collection.
Another great bonus is that the trading range will be temporarily increased throughout the event to 40 km. It will change again on Monday, February 15th, so you have more than enough time to complete some negotiations.
The chance of becoming Lucky Friends with someone also increased throughout the event, making it the perfect time to exchange some Pokémon.
The 5 km egg pool has also been changed for the event, giving you the chance to capture the following Pokémon:

The Lunar New Year event in Pokémon Go celebrates the start of the new lunar year, which will be the year of the Ox.
