A big question about the new series Bridgerton that we keep seeing is about the age of the main character Daphne Bridgerton.
Daphne, played by emerging star Phoebe Dynevor, is the eldest daughter of the mighty Bridgerton family and the series follows her as she makes her debut in Regency London’s competitive wedding market.
Her age is questioned as the public wonders whether young teenagers are being placed on the wedding market or whether young women are of an appropriate age to marry.
Although Daphne’s age is not covered in the program, the book series does provide an answer.

In the original novel “The Duke & I”, written by Julia Quinn, Daphne is 21 years old. This information will certainly give some relief to fans who would feel uncomfortable with a younger teenager being placed on the wedding market.
Although the age of the Duke of Hastings is unclear, the book mentions that he is several years older than she.
In real life, Phoebe is 25 now and she was 24 while doing the show. Regé-Jean Webpage, who plays the duke, is now 30 years old.
