How much snow to wait for Monday

DETROIT – Welcome to Sunday night, Motown!

We have a new blanket of fluffy snow over Detroit and southeastern Michigan on Sunday night. Many areas received 2.5 cm or less, but Oakland County and some neighborhoods received 1 to 7 cm. Even a small amount of snow can cause major problems, so be cautious on the streets and sidewalks on Sunday night.

The scattered bursts move after dinner time on Sunday. Most of Monday will be dry during the day, so more snow will arrive on Monday night and Tuesday.

Sunday night will be cloudy with sparse bursts and cold temperatures over 20 years.

Sunday night will be partly cloudy and cold. The minimums during the night will be between teenagers and 20 years old.

There is likely to be more snow from Monday to Tuesday. A separate low pressure area travels south of southern Michigan. Cold air will remain trapped as the storm intensifies, collects moisture and throws it into southeastern Michigan in the form of light to heavy snow. The afternoon temperature will be around 30 degrees on Monday and Tuesday.

The first snowflakes arrive in the late Monday afternoon. Snow blows become more intense and widespread on Monday nights and Tuesday morning. Tuesday continues to snow with intermittent light snow after sunrise and the rest of the day.

All Detroit residents will need their snow shovels. Some people in southeastern Michigand will spend more time shoveling snow than others. The heaviest snow runs from Detroit to Ann Arbor south to the Michigan-Ohio border. Starting on Sunday, the highest snow totals are expected to reach 3 to 5 inches between Monday and Tuesday. A lighter amount of snow – 1 to 4 inches – will fall from Eight Mile Road north to I-69 and the thumb region.

Remember: predicted snow totals can change, so stay tuned.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be more sunny and cooler. Daytime temperatures will be between 20 and 20 degrees. Night and early morning casualties will be in adolescence, with chills close to zero at times.
