Amazon Prime has released a new video listing all the technology that Johnny Mnemonic of 1995, starring Keanu Reeves, accurately predicted.

Although Keanu Reeves is best known for roles in major franchises such as John Wick and The Matrix, he also starred in the 1995 cyberpunk movie Johnny Mnemonic – which happens to happen in the year 2021. Amazon Prime Video recently launched a video listing the technology used in the film that happened in the real world.

Among the most accurate predictions were masked X-ray machines at airports and protests, as well as virtual religious services. Inaccurate predictions include laser whips and computers that allow you to interact with a dolphin’s mind, which Reeves’ title character does at the end of the film.

Johnny Mnemonic stars Reeves as Johnny, a “mnemonic messenger” who markets data for megacorporations. Johnny’s last job puts him in the crosshairs of Yakuza, and he goes on a mission to decrypt the data before it damages his mind forever. Johnny Mnemonic is based on the short story by William Gibson, who also wrote the screenplay for the film version. Gibson is known as the architect of the cyberpunk genre, who first appeared in his debut novel Neuromancer.

Reeves recently added “comic book writer” to his resume with BRZRKR. The bang! Studio series, co-created by Reeves with Matt Kindt (Mind MGMT) and Ron Garney (captain America) features an immortal killer based on the image of Reeves, who participates in secret missions for the US government.

Johnny Mnemonic is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
