Manchester United will try to extend their leadership at the top of the Premier League as they face Liverpool at Anfield this weekend.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team moved up to first place with a victory over Burnley in the middle of the week and could increase the advantage if they win on Sunday afternoon.
United have not won in the last four Premier League games against Liverpool (D2 L2), the longest series without beating their rivals since a series of five between March 2000 and January 2002.
In terms of news from the starting team, Amad Diallo may be in line for a role on the team on the journey, but Phil Jones and Brandon Williams were both dropped.

It’s all a matter of results for United at Anfield this weekend, but Solskjaer would do well to keep his setup tested and proven, even if a more defensive option is available.
United moved to three in defense in most major games last season, however, the current four defenders are playing well and deserve a chance against the best in Europe.
Matic would be an understandable choice in midfield, but Fred and McTominay remain unmatched as a partner, while Pogba is better on the left than on a diamond.
Rashford on the wing, but I would choose Martial over Cavani if I fit, simply because of his pace against a bottom line that is allowed to push up.

Solskjaer has some tactical options for Sunday, like switching to a defense three or going to a diamond midfield, but the 4-2-3-1 has worked well recently and he should stay with him.
There may be a temptation to bring Lindelof back in defense, but the Bailly and Maguire partnership has worked well lately and deserves the toughest test so far. The sides decide at the moment.

In the midfield, Fred and McTominay’s claw and energy are mandatory in Anfield, while Fernandes is the first name on the spreadsheet. Pogba’s form means he should start well, however, and the easiest solution may be a left-wing role for the World Cup winner. Rashford and Cavani can complete the top three.
