How does Amed Rosario of the Cleveland Indians fit into the list? Hey Hoynsie

Hey, Hoynsie: Where does Amed Rosario fit on the list of Indians? – Liam Jones, Youngstown.

Hey, Liam: Well, now he’s doing a little bit of that and a little bit of that. He came to the camp as a shortstop, was moved to the center of the field and is now jumping between the two positions. The feeling is that he will eventually become a decent central defender, but it will take time. I think we’ll see him play shortstop against some tough lefties.

He had a pinch single and scored on Thursday’s debut against Tigers. Indians need to put their staff on the schedule as much as possible.

Hey, Hoynsie: What is the record for the first day of the Tribe since you cover the team? – Tom, Mt Vernon.

Hey, Tom: I burned some calculators trying to figure this out. Since I started covering the Indians in 1983, they are 16 to 23 years old at the opening of the season. So it seems that I have always been the problem.

Francisco lindor

Francisco Lindor from Mets.AP

Hey, Hoynsie: Looking at Francisco Lindor’s new contract, how much does the agent receive and when is it paid? Every year or all in advance? – Spence, Canton.

From Spence: The NFL and NBA limit agents’ commission on a player’s contract to 3%. There is no limit in the MLB. Typically, an agent’s commission is between 4% and 10%. In endorsement negotiations, the agent can obtain between 10% and 20%.

Lindor has just signed a $ 341 million 10-year contract with Mets. He wanted $ 341 to make it the highest-paid shortstop in history. Fernando Tatis recently signed a $ 340 million 14-year contract with the Fathers. I’m not sure if David Meter, Lindor’s agent, gets paid, but I imagine he is fine.

Indians vs. Giants

Goodyear Ballpark, home of spring training for Indians and Reds, in Goodyear, Arizona.AP

Hey, Hoynsie: I recently moved from Cleveland to Arizona and, yes, I miss going to Progressive Field more than I can say. So, now that the team has returned to Cleveland, I understand that the Goodyear training complex has its own schedule. Who is doing what and is open to the public.? – Greg Benedetto, Cottonwood, Arizona.

Hey, Greg: Fans were unable to attend training when the major league club was working on the complex in Goodyear this spring because of coronavirus protocols. I imagine it is the same for the minor leagues. They will spend most of April there, luckily preparing for their Class AA and Class A seasons.

The Indians will maintain at least one team in their complex when Class AA and Class A teams lift camp in May to begin their seasons. Perhaps the protocols are loosened enough by them that you can watch some of these games.

The Indians have another group of secondary league players at their alternative camp in Colombo. They are scheduled to start playing on Monday. The AAA class team will emerge from this camp.

Cleveland Indians Summer Exercises

Hey, Hoynsie: In addition to a few pitches, do Indians have a poor system in the minor leagues? They already had a promising position player talent that we anticipated would make a difference in the big leagues with players like Francisco Lindor, Manny Ramirez, Albert Belle and Jim Thome. Who are the players in the farm system who could help in Cleveland? – David Seed, Shaker Heights.

Hey, David: The Indians injected a lot of talent into the system with the professions of Trevor Bauer, Corey Kluber, Mike Clevinger and Mike Clevinger. They also developed their own talent in players like Shane Bieber, Zach Plesac, Aaron Civale, Triston McKenzie and James Karinchak. This spring was a debutante party for secondary league players Tyler Freeman, Owen Miller, Gabriel Arias and Ernie Clement. Freeman and Miller were so impressive that they stayed with the big league team until the camp on Tuesday.

There is a big difference between Lindor and the other position players you mentioned – Ramirez, Belle and Thome. But the Indians have talents coming, they position players and pitchers. Its farm system is well regarded in all major leagues.
