One of the biggest stories in this off-season was the status of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who was mentioned as a potential option – although not a realistic one – as a quarterback for the Chicago Bears.
Wilson named the Bears, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys as the four teams he would agree to be dealt with – if that became true.
Well, Wilson’s list of finalists got shorter.
On Monday, the Cowboys signed quarterback Dak Prescott with a $ 160 million deal for four years, which effectively takes them out of Wilson’s draw.
Which leaves Bears, Saints and Raiders as the final three teams in the race.
It comes down to whether or not the Seahawks are willing to negotiate Wilson, which they insist they are not. Although, they have received calls from other teams.
It is difficult to deny how much Chicago has been associated with Wilson in recent weeks, in addition to being mentioned in relation to the four teams. Reports of Wilson wanting to become the historic Bears franchise and Wilson enjoying the Bears’ emerging offensive line, Matt Nagy and the Chicago market have made it hard to ignore.
With the jobs of Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace depending on the success of this team in 2021, it comes as no surprise that they are arguably the most desperate team looking for a defender in this off season.
The only thing that was clear in this off-season is that, if Wilson were to be traded, it would probably be the Bears who managed to win him over.
