Houston Texans and RB Phillip Lindsay agree to a one-year contract

Phillip Lindsay agreed to a one-year contract with the Houston Texans, his agent announced on friday.

The deal is worth $ 3.25 million with a $ 1 million guarantee and $ 500,000 in incentives, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Lindsay joins veterans David Johnson and Mark Ingram in the position. Houston restructured Johnson’s contract at the beginning of the off-season, opting to bring him back at a lower price instead of cutting his $ 9 million salary for 2021.

David Johnson’s Texans racing game and reserve Duke Johnson fought in 2020 and came in last in the NFL in Football Outsiders’ DVOA. Duke Johnson was launched at the beginning of the off-season.

Lindsay, 26, became an unrestricted free agent when the Broncos rescinded the RFA bid they had made with him, which would have allowed them to match any contract, but would not have provided Denver with any compensation if he signed with another team .

Lindsay, who played collegially in Colorado and was part of the Broncos’ squad as a non-hired free agent in 2018, ran for 1,037 yards and nine touchdowns in her debut season. He was also selected for the Pro Bowl.

He followed up with another 1,000 yard season in 2019, running for 1,011 yards and seven touchdowns.

Despite Lindsay’s success, the Broncos signed with running back Melvin Gordon for a two-year, $ 16 million contract at a free agency the following off-season. His production dropped to 502 yards and a touchdown in 2020 due to having to share the load with Gordon and a combination of injuries that took him to the injured reserve.

In three seasons, Lindsay ran for 2,550 yards and 17 touchdowns. It also has 77 receptions for 465 yards and a touchdown.
