HOUSTON – Houstonians everywhere hope that Texans and quarterback Deshaun Watson will be able to reconcile before the start of the 2021 season.
Even in the mayor’s office.
On Sunday, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner tweeted that the city “loves” Watson and the Texans and, as mayor, “I pray that we move forward together.”
At the end of the day, Turner posted that he values Watson as a player, but respects him even more as a person.
“I know he loves this city because I saw how much he gave of himself and his treasure to the people of this city,” tweeted Turner. “I am humbled to be your mayor. I hope this doesn’t change anytime soon.”
Houston loves @deshaunwatson and the @HoustonTexans. Houston is a great city that wants to support our players and team. As the mayor of an incomparable city, I pray that we will move forward together. st

Watson is upset with the Texans’ organization because of the way it handled the process of finding a new general manager, eventually hiring Nick Caserio, sources previously told ESPN. Watson did not ask for an exchange, but on Sunday, sources told Chris Mortensen of ESPN that the Texan coach’s decision should not change Watson’s desire to leave the organization.
Last week, a source told ESPN that the Texans had internal conversations about possible business partners and what their position as a defender without Watson would be like.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Texans should request a second interview with Buffalo Bills ‘defense coordinator, Leslie Frazier, and can request a second interview with Kansas City Chiefs’ defense coordinator, Eric Bieniemy.
Last week, the Texans announced that they interviewed Bieniemy, Frazier, Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, Ravens assistant coach David Culley, defender Josh McCown and former Lions and Colts coach Jim Caldwell for their position as head coach.
