Houston Gordon’s Eric Gordon was eliminated for 4 to 6 weeks with groin injury

The faltering Houston Rockets suffered another blow on Friday, losing Eric Gordon guard for four to six weeks due to a groin sprain, sources told ESPN.

Gordon suffered an injury in the loss to the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night, the franchise’s 14th consecutive season this season. He averages 17.8 points for the Rockets, which dropped to 11-24 and 14th in the Western Conference.

Gordon, 32, was targeted by several teams ahead of the March 25 negotiating deadline, but the injury largely ensures that he will end his fifth season in Houston.

Gordon was the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2017 and averaged 16.6 points over 13 NBA seasons with the LA Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans and Rockets.

The Rockets split from striker PJ Tucker on Thursday night until a change can be found and guards John Wall and Victor Oladipo came in and out of the team due to injuries. Pivot Christian Wood is expected to return to the roster in the near future.
