Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters of California, who chairs the House’s Financial Services Committee, said she “will convene an audience to review recent activity around GameStop (GME) shares and other impacted actions focusing on short selling, platforms of online trading, gamification and its systemic impact on our capital markets and retail investors. “Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio, who is about to become the new chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, also promised an audience. “People on Wall Street only care about the rules when they are being harmed. It is time for the SEC and Congress to make the economy work for everyone, ”he said. Brown said in a tweet. “As the incoming chairman of the @SenateBanking Committee, I will hold a hearing on the current state of the stock market.” Waters and Brown did not give dates for the next hearings.
