Hot Wheels Unleashed scheduled for September for consoles and PC

Milestone, the Italian developer known for the MotoGP and Monster Energy Supercross racing simulators, is developing an arcade racing game – under the Mattel Hot Wheels brand. Hot Wheels released will launch Sept. 30 on all current consoles and Windows PCs, the companies announced Thursday.

Hot Wheels released will feature local split-screen multiplayer supporting the racing action, which takes place on the signature tracks of Hot Wheels, Mattel and Milestone said in a press release. You cannot attach bottle rockets to cars, but you can use a turbo boost that expels flames, as well as drift and jump commands, to reach the top of the pack.

“Milestone’s experience in developing racing games has allowed us to transform the Hot Wheels brand into an attractive console and PC gaming experience,” said Andrew Chan, Mattel’s head of digital games, in a statement.

Hot Wheels turns 53 this year. Brothers have been throwing them through orange plastic handles, corkscrews and each other since the Nixon administration. Hot Wheels has lent its name to several video games since 1984; its most recent appearance was like an expansion for 2016 Forza Horizon 3, which included the orange stunt tracks

Hot Wheels released it will allow players to “drive the cars as if they are playing with the molten toys”, according to the press release. The game must have a heavy collection angle, too, as skins, track sets, cars of varying rarity and other features have been mentioned. There is also a track editor and creations can be shared online with the community.

Hot Wheels released will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Milestones Monster Energy Supercross 4 will be released on March 8 and MotoGP 21 is coming on April 22nd. The studio’s other two most recent games involve motorcycles too – Yes October Forza-for-bikes Tour 4 and december MXGP 2020.
