Defensive defense of South Carolina football Jaycee Horn he didn’t get much recognition in the first round in the preseason, but he’s getting it at the right time. Pro Football Focus evaluates Horn as an early NFL Draft pick in the cornerback position, and recently provided some insight into the three-year draft score.
Horn took a back seat from a NFL national recruiting simulation point of view to his teammate, Israel Mukuamu, in the pre-season draft ratings, but the Alpharetta, Georgia native is launching draft boards before the harvester season begins. Horn is now designed as a first-round choice by several publications.
PFF NFL Draft analyst Mike Renner designs Horn as a first-round player and says he “has the set of physical skills and mentality to be a great journalist in the NFL”.

The best Horn game of the season, in terms of his PFF score, was against Auburn, where he received an 84.3 score. Horn also received the SEC Defense of the Week Player of the Year honors. His worst game was two weeks earlier, against Florida, where he scored 53.1. Horn’s overall rating for the season was 78.4.
Throughout his career, Horn has allowed only five touchdowns on 124 targets. He has only been shot 24 times this season and has given up eight receptions, but three of them went for touchdowns. The quarterbacks only had a 54.9 passer rating against him this season.
The site also wrote, “Horn is still a little rude, but he has the skills and mindset you want from a male corner. He wants to physically challenge every receiver he faces – sometimes too much. He’ll have to roll this up a bit when he gets to the league. But this is much easier than teaching a guy to play with Horn intensity. His tape against Auburn’s Seth Williams was as impressive as possible. He allowed only two receptions on 10 targets in 55 yards with two choices and five pass separations at that exit. Your approach may be a problem for some, but heavy concept teams will covet you from the start. “

Over the course of three seasons, Horn started 29 games during his South Carolina football career and played in another. This season, he had 16 tackles in total, with one losing yards. He also has a couple of interceptions, both against Auburn, when he beat SEC’s defensive player of the week, and had six past splits to his credit.
