“I hang up the phone and open the curtains,” confessed the Oscar-winning actress.
The actress who played Pigeon Woman in “Home Alone 2” revealed that she will be spending Christmas alone.
Almost 30 years after the festive comedy hit theaters, Brenda Fricker discussed how difficult the holiday season can be for her during a rare interview with the podcast “The Ray D’Arcy Show”.

“I am 75 years old and I would be lying if I said it would be a good and happy Christmas because I am old and I live alone”, confessed the Oscar winner. “It can be very dark.”
“I just hang up the phone and open the curtains,” she continued. “I pre-record some good shows, and I have my dog and I do better that way. I don’t want to look a little negative, but it’s a different kind of Christmas, that’s all.”
The Irish actress went on to say that New Year’s Eve is “very difficult” because she “has no one to turn to hug or smile” when her church clock strikes midnight.
“I can’t get away from the bells,” she explained.

After the podcast host stated that the actress spending the holidays alone was “ironic” about her homeless character in the film, Brenda replied, “Well, Mrs. Pigeon was very alone.”
As for any recent communication between Brenda and the film’s star, Macaulay Culkin, she said, “I care about him, but I’m not in touch with him.”
The character Pigeon Lady recently made headlines after Kristen Wiig played a murderous version of her on “Saturday Night Live” and social media followers said Piers Morgan had a mysterious resemblance to the reclusive resident of Central Park.
Brenda, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 1989 for “Meu Pé Esquerdo”, retired from acting in 2014.
