“It has come to our attention that a registration link for this Thursday’s Covid-19 Public Health Vaccination Clinic in Pasadena has been shared with a large entertainment, news and production group,” says a statement from Pasadena officials this week. “This group is NOT currently qualified to receive the vaccine according to state criteria, which were also described in the wording attached to the registration link.”
“Due to the complexity of confirming legitimate and qualified registrants for the vaccine in the system, our health department is forced to reschedule Thursday’s vaccination clinic.”

It is not the first time that a group of relatively wealthy angelenos has jumped from the line.
California Governor Gavin Newsom testified first hand at a clinic in eastern Los Angeles.

“I was in eastern LA the other day in an all-Latin public housing location and I saw these Audis stop, people who looked like me, wondering what was going on,” said Newsom.
The governor and local officials confirmed that strangers were using vaccine codes specifically targeting underserved communities to get nominations. Some of those who misused the codes later said that they did not realize that it was not allowed; they just received the code sent by a friend. State and local officials later said that the vaccine code system is being overhauled to work through individual codes instead of group codes.
But line skippers don’t even need a code.
Pharmacies like CVS are vaccinating people based only on their statements using an online eligibility form, which people can fill in any way they want. All anyone has to do is click on a certificate that says, “I meet my county’s eligibility requirements.” When that person shows up for an appointment, the only check they need to provide is a driver’s license to prove that they are the person they claim to be. There is no eligibility check.
There is also what can be called the “back door” route for vaccination.
State officials, desperate to increase the distribution of the vaccine, are displaying the vaccine bait in front of potential volunteers.
“At the moment, volunteers who complete a shift of four hours or more at a vaccine site are considered community health workers and eligible for the vaccine,” said California service chief Josh Fryday.
That’s right, for four hours of work, any adult in the state can get vaccinated.
