He wrote a book on the “Plan of God” inspired by Donald Trump and donated thousands to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s campaign and a political action committee that supports it. But now one of Georgia Republican’s big donors, a conspiracy lover, is turning his back on her.
Alander Pulliam, a Los Angeles producer responsible for the 90s TV spinoffs Family is still important and Black Rugrats, says she initially supported Greene, but that the QA-friendly congresswoman, who wrote impeachment articles for President Joe Biden on the day he took office, went too far.
“After Trump stepped down and Joe Biden came in, at that point you should have moved on and let it go,” Pulliam told The Daily Beast in an interview. “It’s like a tantrum and I don’t want to be part of someone who is having a tantrum. Let go, move on, grow. You are an adult woman. “
In recent weeks, Greene’s reputation for unbalanced conspiracy theories has unlikely worsened. Reporters discovered videos, social media posts and comments in which she endorsed the assassination of prominent Democrats like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former President Barack Obama, claiming that the school shootings in Parkland, Florida, and Sandy Hook, Connecticut, they were “false flags,” and said the 2018 forest fires in California were caused by Jewish space lasers.
As the Georgia Recorder first reported, Pulliam originally donated $ 15,000 to Greene the day after the 2020 election and, unintentionally, exceeded the federal campaign contribution limits. In a subsequent phone call with her, which Pulliam recorded and posted on YouTube, the Georgia congresswoman can be heard thanking her for her donation and explaining that her campaign was reimbursing her $ 6,600 as a result.
Greene’s prominence in the “Stop the Steal” movement initially caught his eye. “It wasn’t so much that I thought the election was rigged,” said Pulliam. “I followed her in that fight to make sure everything was done fairly.”
“When I donate, I expect nothing in return, but I expect you to be responsive. I feel that if I put money into something, I must be part of it.“
She seemed to thank the donation. “Oh my God, this guy is so amazing, he’s helping a lot,” she says in the video. But Pulliam said he expected more than just thanks from her. “When I donate, I don’t expect anything in return, but I expect you to be responsive,” he said. “I feel that if I put money into something, I must be a part of it.”
Pulliam donated $ 5,000 to Save America Stop Socialism, the leadership of Greene’s PAC, making him his primary donor. He also donated an additional $ 5,000 to Stop Socialism Now, a similarly titled political action committee that supported Republican Senate candidates David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler in Georgia. His treasurer, Jason D. Boles, is a friend of Greene who previously worked for his campaign committee, Greene for Congress, Inc.
In the telephone conversation with Greene that Pulliam published on YouTube, the Los Angeles-based filmmaker explained his interest in conservative politics as a consequence of his career and aversion to “socialism”.
“[Democrats] I want to get rid of everything, as much as loans and new things [Trump] established and brought socialism, a package they made. Honestly, it’s a scary thing because socialism is definitely not the place America needs to be in, ”says Pulliam on the tape. “I am an entrepreneur. Socialism is the opposite of that. “
Pulliam’s interest in politics in general and Trump in particular seems to date back to at least 2017, when he formed The Trump Way Foundation in West Virginia, according to the Office of the Secretary of State. It is not clear what work the foundation did, if any.
He also compressed his remarks about the Trump presidency into a Kindle book published by himself, God’s Plan: a book inspired by Donald Trump. The nine-page pamphlet, which contains many Bible verses about the conflict between good and evil, stated that “God plays a role in the current position that President Donald Trump holds” and that “President Donald Trump was chosen for exactly that reason for turning human wisdom into sand and fulfilling His plan and purpose for the sheep and the goat. ‘
Pulliam, who says he is not a fan of political parties, is running for office and has established a presidential committee to run as an independent conservative.
His campaign website is big on slogans – “changing the way we see things can change the way we live” – and I like the details. The website boasts a “tax cut where it needs to be cut and tax increase where it needs to be increased” platform, “educational freedom” and “opportunity zones”
On his LinkedIn profile, Pulliam describes himself as “an American producer, author, actor, writer, entrepreneur and investor”, but his most notable work is in the entertainment industry.
IMDb lists Pulliam as the producer of Family is still important, a 2021 sitcom about the Garrett family inspired by the beloved 1990s show Family issues, starring Jaleel White as the emerging character Steve Urkel. Pulliam is also a producer of Black Rugrats, a cartoon inspired by the 90s Nickelodeon cartoon Rugrats.
