Holly Robinson Peete, who was one of CBS ‘original presenters The conversation, criticized Sharon Osbourne on Twitter saying that the co-host “complained that I was too ‘ghetto’” for the show and that Osbourne was responsible for Peete’s departure in 2011.
“I’m old enough to remember when Sharon complained that I was too ‘ghetto’ for # theTalk … so I was gone,” tweeted Peete. “I brought it up now because I was mortified to see the disrespectful and condescending tone that she adopted with her co-host, who remained respectful because … she HAD TO.”
Peete’s comments came after Osbourne started crying during Wednesday’s episode of The conversation after being called by co-host Sheryl Underwood for giving “safe haven” to Osbourne’s friend, Piers Morgan, after his comments about Meghan Markle were considered by many to be racist. Among his most incendiary remarks, Morgan also said that he did not believe Markle’s suicidal thoughts.
“I feel like I’m about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend that many people think is racist, which makes me a racist,” said Osbourne, before asking Underwood to be precise about how Morgan has been racist.
After the heated conversation from Wednesday’s episode, Osbourne shared a statement on Twitter apologizing for her remarks, adding that she “felt surprised [and] became defensive. Morgan responded to the moment between Underwood and Osbourne by demanding that The conversation apologize after “embarrassing and intimidating” your friend.
