Hitman 3 will reduce the file size of previous series entries

When Hitman 3 releases later this month, it appears that the game will decrease the file size of the previous two entries in the series. The announcement was made on a topic on ResetEra by A Path Finder, a verified member of the IO Interactive development team. Apparently, all three games with all the content will clock around 100 GB in total. A Path Finder said that IO Interactive performed the task by removing duplicate data and using “newer and better compression for textures”. For those concerned with hard disk space, this should be very welcome news!

The amount of space a game occupies has become a serious problem for many players in recent years. As the games continue to become more advanced and the DLC becomes an expected part of any release, the amount of space occupied also increases. Fortunately, IO Interactive is not the only publisher making efforts to reduce the amount of space its game occupies; last year, Fifteen days developer Epic Games also announced that the game’s size would decrease on the PC. Hopefully, this will be the start of a trend across the video game industry!

Smaller file sizes are just one of the improvements that will come to Hitman and Hitman 2 When Hitman 3 launches. According to A Path Finder, previous games have been enhanced with reflections of the screen space, which should make the experience more beautiful. These types of updates have become increasingly common in recent times and should help give players an extra incentive to revisit previous titles.

Hitman 3 is the last game in the IO Interactive series, once again putting players in the role of Agent 47. The game will apparently feature some of the biggest contracts in the franchise’s history, and players will have plenty of freedom to perform as they see fit. This may mean attacking or taking a more stealthy approach.

Hitman 3 will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC on January 20, 2021. You can check out all of our previous coverage of the game here.
